There's so much to remember about Krabi, Thailand, but this to me is the most unforgettable.
It seems to be a simple cave shaped like a woman's genitalia, but something lies here that everyone will find interesting.
Set on the edge of Railay beach in Krabi Thailand, is a cave named Phranang or princess who according to the legends died a virgin inside the cave after surviving a shipwrecked incident. Some other stories on the internet says that Phranang is a wife of a local fisherman waiting for his return. It is also believed that Phranang spirit still lingers in the entire island after it has been associated in a dusit thani hotel construction accident.
People from the island mostly fishermen are said to give offerings to ensure safe journey. Common offerings are in the form of flowers, food, incense, and one object that we may find kinky but a sacred symbol - a lingam which is carved from wood.
A vagina looking cave full of wood carve penises! Yes! Not dildo's, but obviously wooden penises.
Lingam is a symbol of the Hindu God Shiva. It is commonly associated with fertility and over time the Lingams in Phranang cave take the form of wood penis.
If you want to visit the Phranang cave and other spots in Krabi, you may booked anytime the 7 Islands tour package that Mariam Travel and Tours offer. They have great guides that are very entertaining. However, I noticed that what lacks this tour company are first-aiders ready to assist in case of emergency. An accident happened during their fire dance presentation and no one responded quickly and properly aside from my mom.
